A silkworm

Silkworms are special items in the Ex Nihilo mod added by v1.04. They are used to produce String on limited resources maps (primarily Skyblock).

String is necessary for crafting Silk Mesh.

Obtaining[]

Silkworms cannot be crafted. The only way to obtain a silkworm is through using a Crook to break Leaves.

Usage[]

Infesting Leaves[]

If you right click on leaves while holding a silkworm, the leaves block becomes infested. The infestation will gradually spread to adjacent leaves blocks, eventually infesting any adjacent leaves blocks. The infested leaves can then be broken with a Crook to receive string and silkworms, making this a renewable process. Infested leaves will not drop apples or saplings.

As Food[]

Cooking silkworms in a furnace results in cooked silkworms, which restore 2 points of hunger with low saturation.

Composting[]

Silkworms can be composted in either cooked or raw form by using them on a Barrel. Each silkworm contributes 4% to the total amount necessary.
